SKIPPERS ROUT PATRIOTS
2/23/2014

Portsmouth lost to the D-II South leading North Kingstown Skippers by a score of 9-2 Saturday night at the University of Rhode Island’s Boss Arena.  The skippers took control from the opening faceoff and dominated play for the entire game.  Portsmouth’s goals were scored by Matt Alexander and Kyle Alvanas with Kyle McGowan, Aidan O’Brien, Noah McHugh, and Evan Alvanas getting the assists.

North Kingstown outshot Portsmouth 50-14 during the game.  Ben Hood, in goal for the Patriots, had 41 saves and was tagged for the loss.  The Patriots gave up a goal on each of the three penalty kill situations the team faced, and was unsuccessful scoring on the single power play the team had in the game.

Portsmouth’s next game will be Monday, February 24, at 5:30 pm at the Abbey.  The Patriots’ opponent will be the Rogers Vikings in the make-up for the game that was cancelled earlier this month because of the snow storm.  The season is quickly coming to a close and there are only a few opportunities left to see the Patriots in action on the ice.  Head over to the Abbey and support the team.  See you at the rink.
