Eagles Drop Opener to Chaminade
3/9/2010

The Eagles opened their 2010 season with a trip south on the 101 to face a very experienced Chaminade Team.  The Eagles, starting 2 freshmen and 3 sophomores, looked tentative and nervous from the opening whistle.  Chaminade scored on their opening possession to take the early lead.  OP countered with a beautiful feed from Tommy Evans to a cutting Marty Kerns to even the game at 1 just over a minute into the game.  Midway through the 1st quarter, Chaminade took the lead again but OP countered on the next possession with an unassisted goal by Tommy Evans.  The 2nd quarter was all Chaminade as they added two goals in the first 3 minutes of the 2nd period.  The turning point in the game occurred with less than two minutes to go in the 1st half when OP was unable to capitalize on a 2 man up advantage and Chaminade scored with 15 seconds left in the half to take a 5-2 advantage into the break.  Chaminade added a goal in the 3rd and 2 more in the 4th to come away with a physical 8-2 win over the Eagles.
