Lady Engineers continues their dominance of the Other School
The Lady Engineers opened up league play, hosting the Other School. This would be the first of potentially three to four matchups between the two schools. Last year was a nail bitter, but the Lady Engineers came out on top by a score of 58-55 on the road. This time around, the Lady Engineers would set the series tone early, winning 61-48. The Lady Engineers have taken 10 out of the last 11 matchups from the Other School.
The Other School came out strong, taking a 4-0 lead, but Tylea Galloway deep three point shot, cut the lead. After one quarter of play, the Other School led 13-11. The Lady Engineers found their rhythm on offense and defense in the second quarter, outscoring the Other School 18-8, taking a 29-21 lead into the half. The Other School opened up the third quarter knocking down a three, but Tylea Galloway answered back with her second three pointer of the game. The Other School would cut the lead to three with 5:05 left in the third quarter, but the Lady Engineers would go on a 10-0 run to build a 44-31 lead. That was all they needed to finish the Other School off. The Other School could not get closer than 12 points for the last 12 minutes of play.
The Lady Engineers were led by Senior Khepera Stokes, 20pts, 7ast, 5stls, and 5rbs. She had a host of help starting with Juniors Jewel Porter and Deierra Weems 8pts each. Freshmen Gianni Jones and Janay Lily got a taste of the rivalry and wasted no time getting acclimated. Despite both being in foul trouble, they managed to combine for 12pts, 6rbs, and 3stl.
The Lady Engineers defeated Edmondson by a score of 50-9, moving to 2-0 in Division play.
