Engineers handle Anacostia in Season Opener

Stokes & Galloway combined for 34 points to lead young Engineers to a 66-54 win over reigning D.C. champs in game two of the Baltimore/D.C. Challenge.  With three starters gone, the Lady Engineers look for University of Albany commit, Khepera Stokes to lead the way and she did just that.  Stokes finished with a team high 20 points, shooting 2 for 4 from behind the arc.  She displayed speed and quickness to keep Anacostia off balanced throughout the game.  Sophomore, Tylea Galloway wasted no time asserting herself into the starting lineup as she finished with a career high 14 points.  Galloway knocked down 3 three pointers to go along with 4 rebounds and 3 assist.  Another newbie to the starting lineup was Junior, Deierra Weems and she continues to be a matchup problem.  She finished with 9 points and 5 rebounds.  Freshman, Gianni Jones scored her first points of what is going to be a promising high school career.  This kid is a force down bottom and she showed it finishing with 6 points and 4 rebounds.  Senior, Jazmine Talley contributed with 7 points.  Juniors, Jewel Porter and Juelle Lee both finished with 4 points respectively and Porter added 5 rebounds.

The #12 ranked Lady Engineers will take #3 St. Frances Panthers at the Beast of the East Showcase at 7:00 Thursday, December 10th at Roland Park Country School.  On Friday the Lady Engineers will host Mervo in a non league matchup.  They will wrap up three games in three days when they take on back to back defending New York State Federation Class AA champs.
