“TYLER’S TEAM”

Supporting the Sunshine Baseball League in 2017

Wellington, FL – The Tyler McLellan Foundation is happy to announce that they will be joining the Asphalt Angels Car Club and the Village of Royal Palm Beach as a team sponsor in 2017.   This is a baseball program designed for the needs of Children & Adults both boys and girls that live with physical, emotional and/or mental disabilities.  The athletes get to participate in a sports environment structured for their success.  Players learn and grow while having lots of fun and the Sunshine Baseball League provides an essential opportunity for kids to develop stronger emotional & social skills.

The league also stresses the idea of participation over competition.  Every player gets to bat, field and “run” the bases. Balls & strikes are not counted. Victories come in the form of achievement and involvement in the game.  There are three absolute rules…Be safe, have fun and everyone gets to play ball.

President Kevin McLellan says” this is an organization we have supported in the past and currently,  we are focusing on creating relationships with doctors who specialize in adolescent children and adults that live with physical, mental or emotional disabilities within a ten mile radius of the park”.   The Sunshine Baseball League was formerly known as the “Challenger League” and the name was changed a few years back.

Some of the players require a little extra help. So, Parents, Relatives and Teenagers from the community volunteer to come be a “buddy' at the games.  The kids interact with and get to learn baseball from their peers.  The “buddies” learn while having fun, too! They receive life lessons in understanding and compassion from their new friends.

McLellan adds; “In 2017, we will be showing stronger support through a variety of areas other than just team sponsorship, we want to help the Asphalt Angels Car Club and the Village of Royal Palm Beach bring more exposure, players and sponsors into the league. We also know there are parents out there that would love to have their child in this league”.
