The Patriots captain and star defenseman, Kevin Manning, has been honored by selection to the All Division-II Second Team.  The recognition of being selected to the League’s First, Second, or Third Teams is accorded to only the top players in the Division.  The players are chosen for the accolade by a consensus of the Division-II coaches.

Manning’s skills as a defenseman contributed significantly to the Patriots achieving the second best goals against total, and third best penalty kill percentage among the ten teams in Division-II, for the regular season just completed. In addition to his prowess as a defenseman, he is also an offensive threat from the blue line anytime he is on the ice.  He is Portsmouth’s top scoring defenseman, and is ranked number four on the team in points production with three goals and thirteen assists for sixteen points.  Two of his goals were game winners for the Patriots this season.  He is the sole defenseman on Portsmouth’s top power play unit, and leads the top penalty killing squad.  His efforts this season played a large role in the team’s return to the playoffs for the first time in three seasons.
