CHARLES JENKINS NAMED CAA & METROPOLITAN ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Freshman guard Charles Jenkins (Queens, NY/Springfield Gardens HS/ NYC Finest - Pictured) was named the Metropolitan New York Rookie of the Year it was announced today by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) along with being name CAA Rookie of the Year.
Jenkins capped off his first collegiate season with a 15.0 points per game scoring average, the highest total for a Hofstra freshman since Agudio averaged 15.1 in 2004-05. After scoring five points in his collegiate debut against Holy Cross, Jenkins scored in double figures in 27 of his last 28 games, including 15 in a row to close out the season. His top effort was a 28-point, 10-rebound performance in a road win over Iona as part of ESPN Bracket Buster Saturday.
