Summer 2020 Preview
6/3/2020

In regards to summer basketball, we have been given the “go-ahead” to begin camps.  With that being said, the general framework of camps will look a bit different this summer with the CDC protocols and the SUSD mandates for healthy participation.  There still a lot of moving parts, but I do know some details that I can pass along so that you may begin your summer preparations and calendaring.

The Chaparral boys basketball program will be hosting 2 separate sessions for basketball camp this summer:

Session #1)  Incoming FROSH players (9th graders) only.  This session will run for an hour and half each day, Mon-Thrs

Session #2)  10th/11th/12th graders currently enrolled at Chaparral HS.  This session will also run for an hour and half each day, Mon-Thrs.

Both sessions will be CAPPED at a MAX of 30 participants each.

Camps will begin on Monday, June 15.

Times and cost are still being confirmed.

All registration will be completed online via the SUSD website, Community Ed division.

At this time, there are NO scheduled summer leagues or weekend tournaments.  We are hopeful that there will be some opportunities that arise for competition and we will do everything in our power to help our student-athletes (campers) get some “game experiences” this summer.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we start to get back into the routine of summer and we are here to answer any questions you might have.  There are still many more details to follow in regards to camps, but at least at this time we have some preliminary information to circulate.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Stay safe.  Stay healthy.  Stay engaged.  GO FIREBIRDS!
