PATRIOTS OVER REBELS
2/16/2016

Portsmouth defeated the South Kingstown Rebels by a score of 3-2 Monday afternoon at the Abbey.  The game was the second, and final, regular season meeting between the squads, and the win gave the Patriots a sweep of the series.

After spotting the Rebels a two goal lead in the first period, the Patriots roared back in the second period with two shorthanded goals, both scored on the same penalty kill.  Ben O’Hearn and Kyle McGowan each tallied unassisted to even the score.  O’Hearn added the game winner in the third period when he racked up his second unassisted goal of the game.

Gage Aguiar had 21 saves on the afternoon to earn his second league win of the season.  The Patriots were 0 for 2 on the power play and allowed one goal on three penalty kills.

Portsmouth’s next game is this Saturday at the Smithfield Municipal Rink at 6:00 pm.  The team will take on PSW, the co-op team of Providence Country Day, Saint Raphael Academy, and the Wheeler School.  This will be the second game between the squads this season.  The Patriots won the first contest early in December by a score of 6-1.

Every game is critical for the divisional standings as the season begins to wind down.  Come on out and cheer for Portsmouth this weekend.  See you at the rink.
