JUNE 25, 2016 - The Steele County Blades are proud to announce forward Judd Schulz has signed a tender with the NAHL's Wichita Falls Wildcats for the 2016-17 season.
"The Blades organization was my first stepping stone in junior hockey. I am very grateful to Coach Nick for taking me in as a before and after player. Playing at that caliber of hockey helped develop me as a player to think quicker and play in much more intense situations. It made me stronger in the corners and showed me what I need to work on to continue my hockey career to the next level."
Schulz split the season between the Blades and Mankato East High School. With the Blades, Schulz played in 13 games, registering 3 goals, 10 assists and 6 penalty minutes. For the Mankato East Cougars, Schulz put up 60 points (26 goals and 34 assists) in 24 games.
Coach Nick Adamek on Schulz' tender: "Hearing of Judd's opportunity does not come as a surprise to our staff. Coach LaFontaine is getting a great young man, from a fantastic family, very deserving of an opportunity at a higher level. He has a very high offensive ability that should translate very well to the North American Hockey League game. We wish nothing but good luck to Judd as he ventures on his quest of becoming a college athlete. Wichita Falls is a great next step for him."
The Wildcats play in the South Division of the NAHL. The NAHL season kicks off September 21-24, 2016 in Blaine, MN, at the 14th Annual NAHL Showcase.
