Eastman Minor Hockey would like to introduce you to its 2016-2017 Female Midget AAA Selects Program, led by Head Coach, Bill Bram. Eastman has run this program for the past 9 years with great success. Several of our players have moved on to play in Canadian and American College & University Programs.
In the past, the Selects averaged 50 games a season against teams from the U.S.A., Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C., Ontario and Manitoba. For the upcoming season, the team is planning on again using practice facilities in Ste. Anne and Steinbach with at least one dryland session per week prior to a practice time. This enables players to focus on academics on non practice days.
The selects play in the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League, which is comprised of 6 rural teams and 1 team from Winnipeg. Once again we will play approximately 30 league games plus playoffs, and attend a maximum of four showcases. The team will be attending the Stony Creek Midget Showcase in Burlington Ontario from September 9-11. This event is highly scouted and provides a great opportunity to showcase the players on the team.
The Eastman Female Midget AAA Selects program is a regionally-based organization that will challenge and improve your hockey skills. Anticipated program costs for the upcoming season is estimated to be $4900 which would include almost all costs associated with playing, travelling, etc. This cost can be significantly reduced by fundraising and sponsorships which can directly reduce the individual player costs.
The first phase of tryouts will occur at Eastend Area on August 20th and 21st, with 4 hours of ice time.
- August 20 - Rink 1 - 10:45am to 12:15pm
- August 20 - Rink 1 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm
- August 21 - Rink 1 - 4:30pm to 6:00pm
Players advancing to the second phase of tryouts will be involved in one or possibly two exhibition games. It is anticipated that the team will be selected prior to Labour Day long weekend.
Please complete the online application form which will also indicate where cheques are to be mailed. The cost of phase I of the tryouts is $125 prior to August 10th and $150 after August 10th. Phase II, if required, will be an additional cost will be an additional $50 per player for those advancing into this phase of the tryouts. Players selected to the team will be required to make the initial team payment of $2,000 immediately upon selection.
All players must be in shape prior to the tryouts as these tryouts are not for conditioning. As a player if you are not in shape prior to tryouts, we recommend that you don’t waste our time and we won’t waste yours. Conditioning is half the battle and therefore do what you have to do to get to the fitness level in order to compete.
