The Selects defeated last years MFMHL League Champion Yellowhead Chiefs in a hard fought defensive contest on Friday during their first game of this years Central Plains Midget AAA Showcase tournament. After a slow first period that saw the two teams trading a couple of scoring chances, the Selects coaching staff had the girls ready to go for period two. At 9:36 of the second period Forward Chelsea Dinnin  scored a beautiful goal, "roofing" a short side shot while coming out from behind the net after receiving the puck from Hunter Mason. The Selects then buckled down and played some good defensive hockey, standing tall in front of first year netminder Raygan Kirk. Selects special teams also did a good job, moving the puck well on the power play which resulted in some very good scoring chances. The PK team chipped in by playing agressively at times and settling back at other times using puck possesion as a strategy to keep the opposition off the Board. Great job girls!
