JANUARY 13, 2017 - Currently riding a seven game win streak, the Blades will play three games in the next three days.

First up for the Blades on Friday night is the Blaine Energy. The Energy are currently in seventh place in the division in front of the Detroit Fighting Irish. In three meetings so far this season, the Blades have gotten the better of the Energy all three times, outscoring their opponent 21-3 in the process. With the Energy’s recent coaching change and only one game played since, it will be tough to tell what we will see. The last time these teams faced off was at the Chicago Showcase where the Blades won 13-0. Puck drop will be at 7:05 p.m. at Fogerty Arena.

On Saturday night, the Blades will face off against the Forest Lake Lakers yet again. So far, the two teams have played five times this season, most recently Wednesday night in Owatonna. In five meetings so far, the Blades have beaten the Lakers in four of the games, outscoring their opponent 20-12. Kyle Wadden has posted eight points in five meetings so far against the Lakers and will look to continue his good fortune Saturday night. Soren Colstrup has also had a hot hand in games against the Lakers, including the overtime winner earlier this season as well as a two-goal outing Wednesday night. With six more points in the standings than the Lakers, the Blades will look to continue creating some separation.

To finish off eight games in the matter of ten days, the Steele County Blades will play the River Falls Renegades. The last time these teams faced off was nearly a month ago on December 15th. This will mark the first time these two teams will play in the Four Seasons Centre this season. In the previous two meetings on the road, the Blades have walked away victorious with scores of 5-1 and 7-4 respectively. Former St. Croix Valley Magician (now the Renegades) and current Steele County Blades' Tim Grounds has been in the net for both wins.

Some players to keep an eye on this weekend are Chase Lewis, Colton Sprenger and Josh Gouin. Lewis has 16 points in his last eight games while Sprenger has eight points in his last six games including three goals in his last two outings. While Gouin has only been with the team for nine games he has tallied all five of his points in his last three games. The Blades are currently eight points behind the Dells Ducks with four games less played. This weekend is a prime opportunity to continue to narrow the gap between the second place Ducks.
