(Owatonna, MN) (March, 2017) – The Steele County Blades junior hockey team and Youth 1st presented a donation check to Steele County Relay for Life on March 9th at the Blades end of the year banquet, held at the Holiday Inn and Suites.
Friday, February 3rd, 2017 was Federated Insurance Night with the Steele County Blades. A capacity crowd at the Four Seasons Centre, enjoyed fun junior hockey action as the Blades dismantled the Detroit Fighting Irish. Youth 1st hosted the 3rd annual PK STRONG - Stick It To Cancer silent auction in honor of Pete Kalan, one of the founding board members for the Steele County Blades. Fans bid on over 20 silent auction items that included hand-made items, baskets from local businesses and autographed items from the MN Wild, Twins and Timberwolves. Proceeds from this year’s silent auction, totaling $2358, were presented to the Steele County Relay for Life.

When we walk together, we are bigger than cancer. Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at the fairgrounds and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
