The Steele County Blades are proud to announce that Erik Colstrup has committed to play NCAA hockey at Framingham State University in the fall. Erik played parts of 3 seasons in a Steele County Blades uniform.
The Ellendale, MN native played in 35 games for the Blades last year. Erik had 10 assists. He started the year with a Tier II team in the CJHL before coming home to finish his season with the Blades. Over all, in 3 seasons with his hometown team, Erik amassed 27 assists and 112 penalty minutes in 108 total games.
Head Coach Nick Adamek had this to say about Erik’s choice. “Our organization couldn’t be any prouder of Erik’s accomplishments here in Owatonna. Erik came in with the right attitude and learned how to be a shutdown defender that made it hard for the opponent's best players to find time and space on the ice. I know Coach Angers is getting a fierce competitor. It makes it all the better that Erik will have this opportunity to play NCAA hockey with his best friend and brother, Soren. We, as an organization, can’t wait to follow Erik’s progress through the college hockey ranks.”
“I’m very excited to continue my education in such a unique and historical area of our country. I’ve now toured Framingham State University a couple of times, and just being there made this decision an easy one. This past season, we had a lot of fun going undefeated at the USPHL Winter Showcase, and it was then that I first started talking to Rams Head Coach, Guy Angers.” Erik added, “I can’t wait to join my brother Soren while attending Framingham, and am pleased for the both of us to have the ability to continue our athletic and academic careers on the East Coast.”
Framingham State University is located in Framingham, Massachusetts about 20 miles from Boston. The Rams compete in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) at the NCAA Division III level.
Erik joins his brother Soren Colstrup, and fellow Goaltender Tim Grounds in committing to a school. Grounds previously committed to University of Wisconsin- River Falls. The Blades will have more announcements of where their players will be headed shortly.
