2017 CP Capitals Showcase

 

Selects traveled to Portage la Prairie to play in the Caps Showcase September 22-24.

 

Game 1 was Friday night against Team Manitoba U16.  It was a fast hard fought game by both teams and ended in a 0-0 tie.

Congrats to the 3 Selects that made the U16 team.

Game 2 was Saturday morning against Lloydminster.  Lloydminster got off to a quick start and carried the play getting 2 quick goals in the first 2 minutes of the 1st.  Selects answered back late in the 1st, scoring for the Selects was #20 Liza Vigier, assisted by #4 Stephanie Jones.  Score after the 1st was 2-1 for Lloydminster.

Lloydminster scored the only goal in the second making the score 3-1 after the 2nd.

Selects scored midway through the 3rd, goal scored by #14 Chelsea Dinnin, assisted by #20 Liza Vigier and #7 Kyana Brown.  But it wasn’t enough as Lloydminster scored twice in the 3rd making the final 5-2.

 

Game 3 was Saturday afternoon against Pembina Valley Hawks.  Selects and Hawks battled hard in the first, 0-0 at the end of the 1st.

Hawks scored twice in the second and the Selects answered with one goal in the second.  Scoring for the Selects was #11 Sydney Stotski, assist going to #20 Liza Vigier.

2-1 for the Hawks end of the 2nd.

Hawks did the only scoring in the 3rd, scoring twice to make the final 4-1.

 

 

 

Game 4 was Sunday afternoon, Selects took on Yellowhead Chiefs and finished the Showcase off on a high note.

Selects scored twice in the first period to take a 2-0 lead after the 1st.  Scoring the first goal was #14 Chelsea Dinnin, unassisted. The second goal was scored by #10 Samantha Christensen, assisted by #5 Breanna McLennan and #7 Kyana Brown.

The Chiefs started the second period with a goal making the score 2-1.  Selects answered back with a short-handed goal scored by #4 Stephanie Jones, assisted by #10 Samantha Christensen. The second period ended with the Selects up 3-1.

The Chiefs started the third with a goal to make the score 3-2.  Selects answered back a minute later to extend the lead 4-2. Goal scored by #14 Chelsea Dinnin, her second goal of the game, unassisted. Selects added another short-handed goal within a minute to take a 5-2 lead.  Scoring her second goal of the game was #10 Samantha Christensen, assisted by #4 Stephanie Jones and #18 Janelle Perrault. Selects finish the game with  #14 Chelsea Dinnin getting her third goal of the game, Hat Trick!  Assisted by #11 Sydney Stotski and #3 Camille Enns.  Making the final 6-2.  In net for the win was #33 Raygan Kirk.
