University of Oregon Ducks Hockey Leads PAC-8

South Anchorage
’s Sam Cehula helps Ducks to a 12-3-1 record

The Oregon Ducks Hockey Team is off to a great start to the 2007-08 season with a league leading 12 wins to date, good enough for 1st place in the PAC-8 Hockey Conference at the holiday break. The Ducks are also currently ranked # 10 in the most recent American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Western Region rankings.

Sophomore Sam Cehula from South Anchorage High School centers the Ducks top line and has a team leading 21 assists. “Sam is a hard nosed competitor and is a great asset to our program” says Head Coach Scott McCallum. “He makes excellent plays that help his linemates (leading scorer Eric Steinman and Colton Clay from Anchorage) get good scoring opportunities”.

Following the break, the competition gets tougher for Oregon as they have a 3 game road trip to face Colorado State, Colorado and Denver in early January. All 3 opponents are ranked in the West Region’s top 10.

The Ducks have set a team goal of winning the PAC-8 Tournament Championship in February and making the ACHA regional tournament for the second straight season.
