
Hamden Hall Wins Second Holiday Title behind Goaltending of Desa and Tinson
The Hamden Hall hockey team defeated Lyman Hall 4-0 to capture its second straight Milford Indians Holiday Tournament championship at the Milford Ice Pavilion on December 29, 2017. Goaltender Katie Desa recorded the shutout with 28 saves in the championship game. Senior Forward Matthew Stapleton led all scorers with two goals, while Forward Charles Manger and Defenseman Grant Curtis each had one goal and one assist to lead the Hornets to the victory.
The Hornets began the tournament with a resounding 7-1 victory over Trumbull, highlighted by goals by Forwards Mitchell Swick and Mateo Coppola and Defenseman Joseph Neubauer. The second game of the tournament featured Goalie Jacob Tinson, who made 21 saves to lead Hamden Hall to a 2-0 shutout of McMahon of Norwalk. Finally, Max Tomak scored three goals to lead Hamden Hall over Wethersfield 9-5 to secure the team’s spot in the championship game. According to the Hornets’ Coach Steve Harris, “The tournament victory was a team effort. I am proud of the way the team came together and supported each other.”
Hamden Hall Country Day School is a private co-educational, college preparatory Preschool through Grade 12. Hamden Hall continues to develop its ice hockey program consisting of student athletes who further Hamden Hall’s core values of excellence, support, participation, accountability and respect on and off the ice.
