A Guestbook message has been posted by Jesse Reed

Subject: Thanks!

I just want to take a minute & say thanks to you guys for doing these polls! I know it must be a lot of work. As a guy that's played for free, coached & owned my own team I just want to say how great it is to see our hard work noticed! It's also a great recruiting tool to be able to point to these rankings & tell young men that someone is taking notice. I speak for my team & myself when I say we all do this for love of the game. While we aren't big time football, I do feel that semi-pro is just about the purest form of the game. Anytime you have men taking away from family time & work to play for free it shows just how much football means to these guys. Again, thanks for showing all these teams some recognition! Nominations are now being accepted for the AFNT American Football Hall of Fame Class of 2014.

The Hall of Fame Award is the highest honor bestowed in any sport.   Recipients of this prestigious award must possess the highest moral standards, tremendous leadership and/or athletic abilities, outstanding training and skills in their area of expertise,  respected by his/her peers, and a willingness to help others.  Think about that for a moment... AND, IF YOU KNOW OF ANY ONE THAT MEETS OUR CRITERIA, TAKE THE FIRST STEP OF THE PROCESS AND  NOMINATE THEM.  GO TO THE TAB ABOVE FOR THE APPLICATION.

The AFNT Hall of Fame is not limited to minor league football. Nominations are accepted for all...NFL, CFL, arena, indoor, other professional, and college football players, coaches,  executives, sportscasters, reporters, announcers, trainers, videographers, and all others who have dedicated themselves to this wonderful sport of American football.  Please understand that just because a person is nominated for induction into the AFNT Hall of Fame does not guarantee acceptance.  They must, justifiably so, go through a rigorous selection process.

  THE HEISMAN TROPHY

The Most Prestigious Award in College Football

"AND THE HEISMAN GOES TO..."

1951 - 17th Award

Richard "Dick" Kazmaier

Princeton Back

His team was the best in the East in 1951, and was sixth ranked nationally. He was the nation's total offense leader in his senior year and the most accurate passer in the country.

Most major college teams had switched to the T formation by the early 1950s, but Princeton was still using the single wing and from 1949 through 1951 Dick Kazmaier shone as the school's triple-threat tailback. In those three years, he ran, passed, and kicked for a total of more than 4,000 yards, scored 20 touchdowns, and threw 35 touchdown passes.

.

A slim 170 pounds at 5-foot-11, Kazmaier had his greatest day in a 53-15 victory over Cornell in 1951. He ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns and completed 15 of 17 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns. Kazmaier was named an All-American halfback and won both the Heisman and Maxwell Trophies as college player of the year. He was also named Associated Press athlete of the year.

Kazmaier was the first Heisman winner to reach four figures in points and the first to win by more than 1,000 points. He won every section and had 506 first place votes, more than all the other candidates combined.

The Chicago Bears made him their first draft choice in 1952, but he opted not to play pro football. Instead, he attended Harvard Business School. After spending three years in the Navy, he founded Kazmaier Associates, Inc., an investment firm.
