The team has canceled this year’s Alumni Game set for this Thursday, December 23, and has withdrawn from participating in the three games of the Prout Christmas Classic Tournament next week because of COVID considerations. Eight student athletes at PHS had positive COVID tests, including one hockey player. While that individual quarantines, the rest of the hockey team will continue to practice. By withdrawing from the competitions, the coaches hope to limit the squad’s exposure to folks traveling in from other areas who they would be playing in the four canceled games. The contests eliminated are all non-league games which are nice to have but do not count in the division standings. The hope is that by limiting exposure to folks traveling in from out of the area, the Patriots will be less likely to pick up the virus and have to postpone or cancel league games when the season picks up again after the holidays. Any further updates will be posted here on the website when they are available.
