HAWKS MOVE ON
Win Semi-Final In 5 Games
The Thunder Bay Northern Hawks moved into the LJHL final in dramatic fashion, Thursday night. The game 5 win sent the Filane's Falcons home for the season. Behind 4-0 midway through the 2nd period, a goal by veteran Richard Crupi seemed to spark the Hawks who added a powerplay marker by Anthony Tassone to end the 2nd. Trailing 4-2, in the 3rd, the home team scored pp markers by Matt Di Franco and Liam Middleton ,who tied the game with only 1:35 remaining. Captain Devlyn McGuire notched the game winner in 2nd overtime to cap off the comeback. Jayden DeLaqua stopped 35 in net for his 4th straight win. "An amazing display of grit and determination by all of our players. I have no other words", commented head coach Frank Macchi. The Hawks now await the winner of the Bandits/Elks series for the LJHL final. Elks lead the series 2-1.
