Last weekend was the EOSHL draft. Your Glengarry Pipers were looking to add key pieces to bolster their roster for the upcoming season. General Manager & Coach of the Pipers, Jamie Lavigne, seems confident that the objective was accomplished.
In the first round, with the 5th pick of the draft, GM Lavigne selected 6'2, 205 lbs forward Kyle Challis. Lavigne has high expectations for this new recruit. When asked to comment on this new addition, Jamie mentioned that " Kyle is a skilled forward with great speed & great vision, he will be helping the team offensively this season". Challis played with several teams during his junior career. He was notably part of the 2016-2017 Junior A Powassan Voodos, who participated in the Dudley Hewitt Cup. He has also played in the PCJHL league in which he totalled 87 points & 201 PIMS in only 72 games.
In the second round, Jamie drafted a local talent from the Vanleek Cougars, Justin Chaumont. Chaumont had a nice career with the cougars. In his last season, he totalled 22 goals & 45 points in 21 games for them. When talking about the 6'1 & 175lbs winger, coach Lavigne mentioned that "Justin is similar to Challis but with a bit more physical edge to him. He had a great final year with the cougars being over 2 points a game. Hopefully his game can translate to the stiffer competition of the EOSHL".
I hope our fans are as excited about these additions as we are!! Please give them a warm welcome in the comment section! For more information on each players. Press on the hyperlink for their hockey career:
