The National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL) is proud to recognize and thank Ian McRae for his many years of commitment and leadership to junior hockey in Eastern Ontario.
Ian first became involved with the league’s executive in 2007, serving as a Director-at-Large with the Eastern Ontario Junior C Hockey League (EOJCHL). Two years later, in 2009, he was elected President. Under Ian’s leadership, the league took an important step forward, transitioning in 2010 to become the National Capital Junior Hockey League. This milestone gave the league a stronger identity, broadened its reach, and helped pave the way for the continued development of junior hockey in the region.
For more than 15 years as President, Ian worked tirelessly to support teams, players, and communities across Eastern Ontario. His vision, steady leadership, and passion for the game helped ensure that the NCJHL remained a strong and sustainable league that continues to provide opportunities for young athletes to grow on and off the ice.
In May 2025, Ian stepped down as President, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and achievement. The NCJHL is deeply grateful for his years of service and the countless hours he devoted to the success of the league. His contributions will be felt for years to come by everyone connected to the NCJHL.
While stepping away from his official role, Ian remains a valued part of the NCJHL family and Executive. We look forward to seeing him at games and continuing to share in his support of the league that he helped shape.
On behalf of the entire league, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Ian McRae and wish him all the very best in the future.
