Blayke Spears Signs with the Dodge City Law
 |
The Dodge City Law introduced four players today recruited from the open tryouts.
Lineman Zack Roth is a graduate of Garden City Community College and played for Texas Christian University and the New England Patriots. He likes that he'll have the opportunity to play professional ball while working on his family farm.
Linebacker Blayke "Pokey" Spears will be the one with the long locks cascading from his helmet. His major contribution to the team, he said, was as a leader on the field. With the right leadership, any eight players can win.
Defensive back Sloane Kern impressed Coach Sean Ponder when Ponder saw him training near the hotel Ponder was staying at when he arrived in Dodge City. Ponder asked him what he was doing, and Kern told him he was preparing for open tryouts for the new football team in town.
Defensive lineman Zach Fields grew up in Cimarron and played for Dodge City Community College. The strangest part about being a hometown player is his friends telling people to watch out for the "professional."
Ponder also introduced three other new players that were not at the press conference at Western Plains Medical Center this morning:
Quarterback Charles McCullum, who has played for Ponder in the past.
Offensive lineman Anthony Jackson who has experience in the IFL.
Wide receiver Maurice "Mo" Young has three years of experience and reportedly runs a 4.4s 40. In his career his has gained 755 yards and 13 touchdowns over 64 receptions.
