PHS STARTS FEBRUARY WITH A WIN
2/6/2026

Portsmouth began its February push to the playoffs with a 4-2 victory over the South Kingstown Rebels Thursday evening at the Abbey.

The Patriots’ leading goal scorer, Kane Brule, led the scoring with two goals, including the game winner, and added an assist to finish with three points on the night.  Luke Brule opened the scoring for Portsmouth in the first period and also had an assist.  Hadrian Dougherty provided the insurance goal near the end of the third period.

In addition to Kane and Luke Brule, four other PHS players were credited with assists on their teammate’s goals.  Connor Rogers earned two, while  Finn O’Connor, Oliver Melanson, and Lucas Roberts each picked up one.

PHS outshot the Rebels 33-18 in the game.  Ben Humm, in goal for Portsmouth, made 16 saves on the way to his eighth league game win of the season.

The team is back in action at the Abbey once again on Saturday afternoon to take on the Coventry Oakers at 2:00 PM.  The game will feature the team’s annual Salute to Service where the squad honors those who have served in the military or as first responders.  The game will be preceded by a short ceremony honoring a special guest, and the team will wear its military themed uniforms.  Don’t miss it.

Sunday the squad is back on the road for an early afternoon game with the Cumberland Clippers at Lynch Arena.  It’s Superbowl Sunday so the puck will drop to start the game at 1:30 PM.  It will be complete in plenty of time for everyone to head home to watch the football game.  So come to the game and cheer for Portsmouth.

See you at the rink.
