BCC Baseball Drops Series to Wake Tech

5-6-13
In game one of the weekend series, BCC jumped out to an early lead, but was unable to hold on and lost 4-3 to Wake Tech Community College on Saturday in Raleigh. While BCC led until the seventh inning, Wake worked its way back and took the lead on a sacrifice fly. Sloop recorded the win for Wake. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Sloop struck out five, walked none and gave up 11 hits. The top of the first saw BCC take an early lead, 1-0. Brett Fraley singled to ignite the BCC Dolphins' offense. A single by Ryan Brendle then moved Fraley from first to second. Patrick Graham doubled, plating Fraley. It didn't take long for Wake to respond as it scored one run of its own in the first. Wake scored on a solo home run by Holcomb.
In game two of the double header, Wake Tech took the lead in the sixth inning, and the Dolphins were unable to muster a comeback, losing 4-3. Freeman recorded the win for Wake Tech. He allowed three runs over 8 1/3 innings. BCC scored two runs in the top of the ninth to cut its deficit to one. An RBI single by Ryan Maksim and an RBI single by Jimmy Boyd gave BCC life. The game went final when Patrick Graham struck out.
In game three on Sunday, Tony Sanchez did all he could to give BCC a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Wake, as BCC Dolphins lost 5-1. Sanchez led Dolphin’s offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He singled in the seventh and ninth innings. Wake couldn't get anything going as long as Shawn Singletary was on the mound. Wake Tech managed just one hit off of Singletary, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his 2 1/3 innings of work. Wake didn't relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the fourth inning when it scored on an RBI double and an RBI single. The Dolphins only run of the ballgame came in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Alex Sasser.
The Dolphins head to the Region 10 Tournament as the #2 seed this Friday, May 10th, at 1:00 PM as they face #7 seed Rockingham Community College.
