The 4th iteration of the Midwest Football Alliance is here.  During the offseason the MFA added another championship team to its ranks as well as a new expansion team. For the second consecutive year the M.F.A. has added a champion of another league to its ranks along with a new expansion team. The round robin scheduling format will remain the same for another season. 2013 ushered in the first MFA All-Star team that dismantled the All-Stars of the GMFL 51-12. The series is planned to continue with the MFA traveling to a host location of the GMFL’s choosing. The Championship destination has changed and will now be played in Omaha, Nebraska. There’s much more to come as the league is continuously developing.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After three seasons and as of 05/02/14 my record is

94 – 21

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Midwest Titans – The Titans started 2013 & 2014 with a preseason win and a week 1 bye week.

Heartland Falcons – The Falcons can use this time to fine tune their scheme, scout their week 2 opponents (Lincoln Renegades) or relax before its time for serious business. – Bye Week

North Iowa Knights @ Iowa Sharks – The Iowa Sharks kick the season off with a with win over the North Iowa Knights

Lincoln Renegades vs. Quad City Wolfpack – Both teams are looking for preseason redemption but it’s the Renegades who will get it done

***Upset Alert***

Here we have two programs looking to forge an identity. The Sioux Falls Stallions want to maintain their elite status and earn a trip to a third consecutive championship game however, there’s an aura  up north that the Stallions are in a rebuilding year. The Sioux City Stampede is a new expansion team out of Northwest Iowa. The Sioux City Area is a magnet for talent due to the Indoor Arena Team the Sioux City Bandits which and that could potentially benefit the Stampede for seasons to come. Week 1 will test whether the groundwork laid by Stampede will be fruitful or not. The Sioux Falls Stallions are on upset alert. This game could easily turn into more than the Stallions bargained for if they let the Stampede get comfortable.

So here it is… The most valuable factor is experience and when it’s all said done, the Stallions will start the season with a win.

***Game of the Week***

Welcome to “No gimmicks, high stakes, play for keeps” football.  Minor league outlets around the country will be dialed in because this match up will hold a great amount of weight on the Semi Pro BCS. The Des Moines Blaze and St. Paul Pioneers have each won their league on multiple occasions.  The Des Moines Blaze is undefeated and in MFA play and in the midst of building a dynasty. The St. Paul Pioneers aren’t undefeated but they do have more league titles on their resume. Rewind back to last year’s matchup and the Blaze escaped the Pioneers home field with a 27-22 win squashing the Pioneers comeback attempt.  The 2014 scenario is very similar with the Pioneers having already played a preseason game and being the Blaze’s first contest.  I’ll just jump right in.

The majority of the St. Paul Pioneers will have traveled down to Des Moines Friday evening and will be well rested. The differences in talent, size, and experience are negligible at this point.  It sound’s redundant but winners know how to win; consistently. Last year’s Blaze home opener (Vs. Missouri Cyclones W21-14) was uncomfortably close combined with the importance of the rivalry and the result is a victory for the Blaze in a competitive match up
