Several of the Mount Rainier High School football players we in attendance at the First Annual BACK TO SCHOOL RESOURCE FAIR for Des Moines Families, held at Steven J. Underwood Park. The event is sponsered in part by the Highline School District and for students K-6 there were free backpacks and school supplies. There were also opportunites to register for the free and reduced lunch program, access internet services, community information and resources, entertainment, snacks and more.
The football players helped with the breakdown, loading, unloading and storage of tables chairs and tents after the event came to a close. Many of the volunteers were very thankful to the the team there to help after a long day of charity service. There were several comments made about how well mannered the players were. The kids seemed to have a great time mingling with and helping the community.
"We would definitely like to be more involved in the community and anytime our community needs help we are willing to be there, said Coach Mack."
Mount Rainier kicks off it's 2014 campaign at Tahoma Friday, September 5, at 7:00pm. The Rams have been working all Sring and Summer to prepare and that last step of preparation begins on August 20th, when Fall Training Camp begins.
