Eagles made it 13 in a row, downing Crespi 16-8 on the road on Monday. OP scored the first 3 goals of the game in 1:45 but Crespi came back to close the gap to 1 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Eagles ended the half with a 4 goal advantage, 9-5. The 3rd quarter was all Eagles when two 3 minute non-releasable penalties for an illegal body check and unsportsmanlike conduct led to 5 unanswered goals and OP cruised to a 16-8 victory.
JV: JV Eagles also survived an overly-aggressive and physical Crespi team, but rallied the win and beat their JV 11-3. The game started out close ending 3-2 at the half, but better stick skills and overall ability allowed the Eagles to pull ahead in the second half. The defense keft Crespi at bay and Keldan Doheney had a good night in goal. Helfand was the big scorer with a hat trick. Additional goals also added by Wilson, Fowler, Lam, and Bray.
The Eagles are on the road again Wednesday at Thatcher for another non-conference contest. Both JV and Varsity games will begin at 4 pm.
