The RFC final is Friday pitting the Number 3 ranked tier 3 team (CHHS) vs the Number 3 Ranked Tier 2 Team (MHHS) provincially. The Mohawks won in 2011 and the Vikings in 2012.
In a Thursday night marquee the 2 juggernauts of the RFC battled for league and City Supremacy. The Vikings and Mohawks both 4-0 in league play battled in front of 2000 boistrous fans on a beautiful October evening. The Vikings D stood tall facing the vaunted running game of the Mohawks and for almost three quarters held it in check. At halftime the Vikings were down 14-10 but unfortunately dropped a pair of TD passes . Coupled with injuries , and a couple broken tackles the Vikes found themselves in a hole they could not climb out of and on the losing end of a 34-10 score. The team looks to rebound in a semi final matchup at home next friday against an opponent yet to be named pending a weekend matchup to close out the league.
Next Booster club meeting/ Coach/Parent meet and greet will be mid December, more info to follow.

The team headed to Canmore on friday to take on the Canmore Wolverines a top ten ranked tier 4 team in the fresh rocky mountain air. After a somewhat slow start ( probably due to a 4 hour bus ride) including a pair of fumbles the boys settled down and punched a 2 yd TD across by Steven Doyle set up by a nice 20 yard reception by Austin Dulle. The Wolverines answered shortly after Dulle fumbled a punt return that gave them the ball on the Vikings 8 yd line. Alex Glauser hit Gage Matis and Adrian Glauser for TDs in the 2nd half and Steven Doyle added another rushing major. All players got into the game and the final score was 37-14. The team faced its toughest challenge of the 2014 season on friday and were anxious to play on their home turf. In front of a crowd of 700 or so fans the Vikings wasted no time in setting the tone for the game , taking the opening drive 80 yards on many big runs by Justin Hattersley capped off with a 10 yard run to the endzone. The Vikes D settled in but penalties and then a fumbled punt return gave the Titans the ball inside the Vikings Red Zone in the 2nd qtr and they knotted the game up 7-7. In the 2nd half QB Alex Glauser hooked up with his brother Adrian on a well blocked middle screen and danced his way 62 yards for the lead once again. The Vikes D lead by Dawson Bromley and excellent swarm tackling was too much for the Titans and in the 4th Qtr Hattersley broke open the game with a 15 yard TD run to put the team up 21-7. With the Titans driving late in the 4th Tyson Bray sealed the victory with an interception on the Vikings 20 yard line. The team avenged a loss to the Titans that eliminated them from repeating as RFC champs and it was the first loss the Titans had suffered in over a year, last losing to the Vikes in week one of last season!
The Vikings headed to Brooks to kickstart their RFC regular season on friday against the Buffaloe's and wasted no time in getting rolling as Austin Dulle took the opening kickoff back 85 yards on an electrifying run with some great blocks. The team manufactured a great road first half on their way to ammassing a 35-7 halftime lead .
Alex Glauser making his RFC debut at QB passed for 158 yds and two TD's to Gage Matis and Justin Hattersley and ran for a number of first downs and a TD. Dulle added a 50 yd rushing TD in the first half, and Steven Doyle opened the scoring on a 4 yd plunge. The Vikes D was challenged by the Brooks Qb's scrambling ability and late in the 4th the Buffaloe's scored on back to back TD bombs, but the Vikes showed they were not to be outdone and Glauser hit Gage Matis on a 50 yd throw to set the final score up on the 1 yd line. Final Score 43-19.Tyson Bray had numerous knockdowns at safety and a pick. Next up for the Vikes is a match with the defending RFC Champion Drumheller Titans, the Vikes were the only team to defeat the Titans last year as they rolled to a provincial tier 4 crown and a 12-1 record.
