SAN JOSE --  Kyle Hatzenbuhler, making his 2nd start of the year, helped the Dynasty improve to 2-0 on the young season. Although he was not as sharp as usual, walking 4 in 7 innings, he did enough to pick up the victory. Santa Clara outfielder Greg Fanara got the game started with a leadoff double and would eventually score on a Richard McDowell sac fly. Mike Hoefs, playing in his first game of the year, homered in his second at bat. The Padres would rally with 3 runs in the 5th and 1 run in the 7th, but Greg Fanara would come in to relieve Hatzenbuhler and get the 2 inning save. 5 Dynasty hitters had multi hit games.
