MOLINE, IL – The Des Moines Blaze continued to torch the competition Saturday night when they traveled to the Quad Cities for their Midwest Football Alliance opener. The Blaze thoroughly dominated the contest, walking away with a 55-0 victory and a 3-0 record to start the season.

                Three time MFA Offensive Player of the Year DeMareo Darrah continued to pour it on, throwing another five touchdown passes, bringing his season total to 13, against one interception. Keonte White and Jack Norgaard each hauled in their fourth of the year, Chris McNiel caught two, and Mike Offerman brought in another.

                The defense continued their domination, collecting six sacks and five turnovers. Brennon Ballentine brought down Wolfpack QB Zach Furlong three times and Jordan Smith’s hot start continued, collecting his league leading seventh sack.

                Rayrton Lamar led the way with nine stops on defense, followed by Matt Best’s six. Best also scooped up two fumbles, scoring on one. Tyrae Kemp pitched in four tackles, two pass break ups, an interception and blocked a kick.

                Offensively, the Blaze ran for 152 yards by committee with Kione Hampton scorning the lone touchdown on the ground. White again led the squad in receiving with 99 yards on four catches.

                The Blaze returns to Des Moines when they host the Omaha Stockmen Saturday evening at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines. Kickoff is at 7 pm.
