Dolphins Split with Herkimer CC and Surry

Bolivia, NC - After losing in the first game of the double header 3-1, the Dolphins rolled over Herkimer Community College 13-1 on Thursday afternoon.  In the first inning, BCC went on a nine-run rally.  With the help of freshman pitcher Ben Kerner who struck out four, walked one, gave up one hit, and threw three shutout innings, the Dolphins' offense controlled the game.  Ryan Maksim started things off with a single in the first and second innings, and had two RBI's on three hits.   Will Odom singled scoring Ben Morris in the bottom of the third, and Willie McRae singled, plating Andrew Knight.

 

Over the weekend series at Surry Community College, the Dolphins won in the first game 3-0 and dropped the second game on Saturday 7-5.  Alex Ministeri threw nine innings of shutout ball for the Dolphins to record the win.  BCC stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the eighth inning thanks to Ryan Maksim who drove in two runs by Addison Futrell and Bradford Lail.

 

In the second game of the double header on Saturday, BCC fell to Surry in seven innings.  Hunter Absher pitched for the Dolphins, allowing no earned runs, while walking and stricking out none.  BCC scored five runs in the top of the seventh with an RBI double by Addison Futrell, a groundout by TJ Brown, and a walk by Ben Morris.  Meanwhile, Surry's closer Josh Faircloth put away the final out to win the game.

 

Sunday's third game of the weekend series with Surry was rained out.  The Dolphins travel to Pitt CC on Wednesday for a 4:00 PM game, before returning to Founders Field this weekend for a three-game series with Catawba Valley starting at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 29th.
