Dolphins Halt Catawba's Winning Streak

Bolivia, NC - After Saturday's double header had to be cancelled due to rain, the BCC Dolphins broke Catawba Valley's nine-game winning streak, beating the Buccaneers 5-4 and 5-2 on Sunday in a double header.
In the first game of the double header which went 14 innings, Hunter Absher got the job done on the mound allowing one run over six innings. He also struck out three, walked none and gave up three hits. Meanwhile, Addison Futrell added two RBI's on four hits. Futrell doubled in the 5th, putting BCC in the lead. He also singled in the 9th, 11th and 13th innings. Additionally, TJ Brown and Ben Morris each had one RBI off one hit.
In the second game, Catawba Valley jumped out to an early lead and scored two runs in the top of the first inning. But BCC bounced back with a run off an RBI by Patrick Graham, plating Chase Gehringer. BCC then went on to score one run each in the 2nd and 3rd innings with singles by Josh Walker. Finally, in the 5th inning, Ryan Maksim singled and then Patrick Graham singled advancing Maksim. Nick Debo grounded out advancing Maksim to 3rd base, and Graham to 2nd base. Andrew Knight singled to right field, scoring Maksim. Graham scored on a error by Catawba, putting the Dolphins up 5-2. Jimmy Boyd was at the mound for the Dolphins and allowed 2 runs over 4 innings, giving up 5 hits.
Next up for the Dolphins (16-11, 9-4) is a home game on Wednesday, April 2, at 2:00 PM against Louisburg College.
