The Lodi Reds, consisting of boys from all over the Central Valley, captured the Fall Brawl 18-under baseball championship the weekend of Sept. 13-14.
In preliminary rounds Sept. 13, the Reds dominated the Bay Area Tribe 10-2 and Scrappy Baseball 10-2. With a record of 2-0 and only allowing four total runs, the Reds secured the second seed going into the elimination rounds the following day. In elimination rounds, the Reds faced the third-seeded Scrappy Baseball team and advanced to the championship game after a depleted opponent forfeited.
In the championship against a worthy Bay Area Tribe opponent, the Reds took a 3-1 lead early in the game but the Bay Area Tribe manufactured two runs in the sixth inning to tie the game. The game ended in a 3-3 tie. Because of the lack of daylight, the two teams agreed to end regulation with a coin toss.
