Vikings 23 Brooks 7
The Vikings team knew they would be in for a hard hitting affair against the Brooks Buffaloes on Friday night and the match up did not leave anyone disappointed. Both teams came out extremely hard but the Vikings defense showed its teeth especially during the first half. Brooks struggled to move the ball, while the Vikings offense moved the ball well but had some untimely mistakes. Eventually, the Vikes pulled ahead before the half time with a 25 yard field goal and a rouge by Danny Gardiner. Half time score 4-0 for the Vikings. The second half started with a bang as the Buffaloes moved the ball quickly and scored only a few minutes into the third to give them the lead at 7-4. On the next drive the offense came to life, spurred by a 50 yard Kaden Wagner run that set up a Conner Neufeld QB plunge for the major. Vikings up 10-4 after the missed extra point off the upright. The rest of the half became Creed Willette time, as the running back continued to break tackles on his way to two TD's and 209 yards rushing. Credit the offensive line and recievers for their great work blocking, and a stingy Vikings defense for holding Brooks at bay. In the end, Vikings 23 Brooks 7 and the team moves to 2-0 in conference play and 3-0 overall. Next up is another tough match up against Tier II W.H. Croxford on the road in Airdrie.
