Dolphins Sweep at College of the Albemarle

Bolivia, NC - BCC's Jimmy Boyd struck out nine and shutout the Dolphins of College of the Albemarle (15-13, 6-11) 13-0 in the first game of the double header in Elizabeth City, NC, on Saturday.  BCC scored a run in the first inning, an RBI single by Nick Debo to get the BCC Dolphins started, and continued to trounce the COA scoring 12 more runs.  TJ Brown reached base four times, scoring two runs and one RBI.  In a big seventh inning, BCC scored four runs with the help of Bay Wright, who singled, bringing in Ben Morris and Josh Walker.

In the second game on Saturday, the BCC Dolphins held off COA to win 6-5.  Ben Morris got it done for BCC having three singles, driving in one and scoring one run.  Pitching for the Dolphins was Alex Ministeri who allowed two runs over five innings.  Ministeri struck out four, walked two, and gave up four hits.  BCC kept the pressure on with Andrew Chomiczewski's RBI single and Chase Gehringer's two RBI's.

On Sunday, it was no different with the Dolphins trouncing COA 14-4 in seven innings.  Ben Kerner and Hunter Absher combined on the mound to bring the Dolphins to victory.  The biggest inning for BCC came in the fifth with seven runs scored.  An RBI single by Addison Futrell got the Dolphins going, and Willie McRae followed with a two-run double, and an RBI single by Ryan Maksim.  The most exciting part of the inning came when Pat Graham stepped up to the plate and hit a three-run home run.

BCC (21-13, 12-5)  travels to Louisburg College (20-19, 5-15) for a single game on Wednesday, before returning to Founders Field for a series with Rockingham CC on Friday and Saturday.  In between games on Saturday, April 19, BCC Baseball will hold their annual Ball Drop Fundraising Event.  For ticket information to support this event, please contact Robbie Allen, Head Baseball Coach, at (910) 755-7321.
