BCC Gets Series Victory

Bolivia, NC - BCC swept the Knights of New River Community College 13-3, 10-0, 10-0 in a three-game series in Virginia this past weekend, finishing up the travel portion of the regular season.

 

In game one on Saturday, freshman Andrew Chomiczewski, from East Brunswick, New Jersey, recorded four RBI's on three hits for the Dolphins.  Teammates Ryan Maksim and Addison Futrell, each recorded two-run singles, and BCC never trailed after the second inning.  Jimmy Boyd pitched for the Dolphins and allowed 3 runs over 4 innings, striking out 5, walking 2, and giving up only four hits.  

 

In games two and three, the Dolphins slammed New River 10-0 in five and six innings respectively.  In a big fourth inning in game two, Pat Graham, Nick Debo, and Andrew Knight each had RBI doubles, while Graham went on to record three extra base hits for BCC.  Alex Ministeri, from Merrimac, MA, pitched a shut out over five innings, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out six.  Finishing up the weekend sweep was Ben Kerner who threw a shut out on Sunday, and struck out 10, allowing only three hits.  

 

BCC finishes its regular season this week with home games on Wednesday against Pitt CC, and a weekend series with Wake Tech Saturday and Sunday.  The BCC baseball team's annual ball drop fundraiser will be held on Saturday in between games.  For ticket information, please contact Robbie Allen, Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach, at 910-755-7321.  

 

BCC will honor 11 sophomores before the noon game on Sunday.  The sophomores include #4 Ryan Maksim, #7 Shawn Singletary, #9 Timothy "TJ" Brown, #13 Jimmy Boyd, #14 Hunter Absher, #15 Andrew Knight, #18 Ben Morris, #19 Casey Fries, #22 Alex Ministeri, #24 Jordan Cummings, and #29 Patrick Graham.
