Lodi Reds compete at Santa Cruz Classic

The Lodi Reds had three teams compete in the Santa Cruz Columbus Classic this past weekend.

 

The 18-and-under Reds won their division. After losing to the San Jose Bees of 7-6 in the opener, the Reds won their final three games, defeating Bay Area (10-4), the Bees (5-1) and Team Prime (9-8).

 

Lodi’s Jason Kennedy was named tournament MVP after collecting eight hits, including a grand slam. Sam Burns had a homer among his seven hits. Braden Miller had five hits and Alize Evans had four.

 

Jared Kirk and Brandon Cogburn each homered, Brian Preap had three hits, Brandon Preap and Anthony Carrasquel had two and JD Swink and Dustin Bailey both had one. Travis Moore earned two wins on the mound and Robert Magana also earned a win.

 

The 16-and-under Reds team earned beat the HBA Indians (4-1) and the NC Ballers (1-0) before falling to the Ballers in the title game.

 

The Reds 13-and-under team went 1-2 and were eliminated by the eventual tournament champion 8-7.
