    The Lodi Reds Baseball Club 18-and-under team captured the Santa Cruz Columbus Classic the weekend of Oct. 11-12.
    In preliminary rounds Oct. 11, the San Jose Bees buzzed their way to an 8-6 victory against the Reds. In their second game, the Reds sapped the Bay Area Prime 10-2 to secure the second seed going into elimination rounds the following day.
    During eliminations, the Reds once again were matched with a worthy third-seeded San Jose Bees team. With determination, the Reds pulled the stingers out of the Bees with a 5-1 victory. In the championship game against Team Prime, the Reds took a commanding 8-1 lead early in the game. Determined, Team Prime surged back into the game but fell short 9-8 as the Reds captured another championship.
