Hi Everyone,
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the great Mom’s out there who form the backbone of this football program! Thank you for helping to keep your boys fed, organized, focused, eligible and on time. We couldn’t run this program without you!
A few other announcements today:
With the news from the state that school will be administered remotely for the rest of the year, we thought it would be a good time to honor our football seniors, who contributed so much to the program these past four years. Please check the following link from our website for a profile on the senior class:
The closing of the schools through June has raised some questions about the fall football season. I participated in a conference call with the New Jersey Football Coaches Association on Friday. Here is what I can tell you about the status of our fall season:
- No decisions have been made about if/when there will be a fall sports season or when it will begin. The state will make that decision and schools will comply.
- Contingency plans are being put in place for a variety of potential start dates. There are plans for a full season as well as for modified seasons.
- It is unlikely we will have a “normal” summer as far as training and practice goes but there is a high degree of optimism that football will happen in some way, shape or form in the fall. No one can say anything definitively and, again, the state will make the final call. But the NJFCA feels confident we will have a season and is preparing for all scenarios.
So, for the time being, please keep doing what you’re doing. Please have your sons continue to study and to train. It is really important that they use this time to get into great shape because it is unlikely we will have the time to condition together throughout the summer like we normally do. When we get the green light, we are going full-speed ahead. The better shape they are in at that point, the better prepared they’ll be.
One more piece of information: there is no news at present on college prospect camps or skills camps. I will pass along anything I know as soon as possible.
I will send out another email shortly with information on a virtual sign-up meeting for incoming freshmen like we have every June and (hopefully) with news about when we can start preparing. Please be safe and, as always, email with any questions.
Best,
