Lawrence Rotruck enters his first season as the men's soccer coach for the Hurricanes of Paul D. Camp Community College. Rotruck takes over the reins of a program making its inaugural debut in the NJCAA Region X – Division II Men’s Soccer.
Rotruck comes to Camp while currently serving as a History teacher for Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia. He has served as Athletic Director for Smithfield High School (VA) from 2016 – 2018. Rotruck also served as Smithfield High School’s boys’ head soccer coach, from 2007 – 2016, earning the 2016 Conference 18 Coach of the Year and the Packers first Bay Rivers District Championship. Additionally, he served as the men’s soccer coach for Tidewater Community College from 2000 – 2007, while leading the Storm to the Virginia Community College System Cup (VCCS) Championship in 2005 and earning two Coach of the Year awards in 2004 and 2006. Rotruck currently coaches the ’07 boys’ at Smithfield Soccer Club. He has been coaching for more than 28 years at the youth, military, high school, and collegiate levels.
Prior to coaching Tidewater Community College, Rotruck honorably served in the United States Army, where he served as a Drill Sergeant for two years, and the United Sates Marine Corps.
Rotruck earned his degree in History from Christopher Newport University in 2006. He also received his teaching certification from Old Dominion College of Continuing Education and Professional Development Career Switcher Program. He and his wife Ronda have five children, two grandchildren, and he currently resides in Carrollton, Virginia
