SJ Tigers Lose 7-5 to the Riverton Rangers
Sunday, July 19, 2015 - In a stifling 95-degree heat, the South Jersey Tigers weren't able to cool off the Riverton Rangers, losing 7-5 in a game that will likely go a long way in deciding playoff seeding for both teams.
South Jersey jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, courtesy of aggressive base running by Jose Hernandez and a clutch hit from Al Acevedo. Acevedo led the way offensively with two hits.
That lead stood until the 3rd inning, when a few miscues combined with a mammoth home run by Rangers MVP candidate Jeff Pilling resulted in a 7-run frame. That was the only inning the Rangers scored all game. Rob Kuestner fought through 7 innings but suffered the loss.
South Jersey mounted a comeback in the 8th, scoring three runs and cutting the score to 7-5. But the offense couldn't come all the way back and the Tigers suffered their fifth defeat of the season.
South Jersey is 9-5 on the season. They play Hammonton on Sunday, July 26, 2015 in a rematch from a loss earlier in the season.
