FAYETTEVILLE, NC - A knowledgeable and experienced player in minor league football, Chad Walcott has committed to join the Fayetteville Commandos coaching staff as the Co-Offensive Coordinator for the 2024 season.

The 33-year-old Walcott has built an impressive resume over the past 10 years with experience at both the minor league and professional levels. Walcott played professionally for the Cape Fear Heroes, Triangle Torch and West Virginia Rough Riders winning a championship with them.  On the Minor League level, Walcott is mostly known for his years playing and winning 8 total rings with the Triad Outsiders, now of the CFA Fall.  Walcott has also spent time with the Durham Dolphins, Carolina Vipers, East Carolina Rams, NC Bisons, Carolina Cardinals, Carolina Havoc and this past season with the Commandos.

Head Coach and Owner Alan Caudell said Chad's success as a player and his immense knowledge of our offense and style of offense made it a no brainer to ask him to be a part of our staff.

"It is a privilege to welcome Coach Chad Walcott to Commandos," Caudell said. "Coach Walcott has shown a great knowledge of our style of offense in the short time we was a member of our team as a player.  Chad is detail-oriented, his ability to understand what’s going on and what needs to be done make him a tremendous asset to this organization. Chad also has the personality and relationship-building skills to be a great asset in recruiting as well.  While we are bringing him in as a co-coordinator, we fully plan on him taking over some or all play calling duties whenever he is ready"

Chad said it is a great opportunity to come in and learn to lead the Commandos offense. He is excited to start his transition from player to coach to build upon his resume for the future.

"One thing about me, is whether its offense or defense, I am big on IQ.  I really study tendencies, strengths and weaknesses.  That’s how I am able to stay one of the top at my position every year" Walcott said. "I’ve sometimes made sacrifices with my teams to play whatever was needed to help the team win and I’m looking for more players that are willing to do the same."

Walcott has also been involved in the community with running his own yearly non profit athletic camps since 2015.  Each summer, Chad assembles a group of minor league players and they run a camp called Desire II Inspire for youth aged 8-15 in the Raleigh-Durham area encouraging not just athletic prowess, but being great community leaders and academic scholars as well.

In addition to minor league and professional football, Chad has also been the offensive co-coordinator at College Leadership Prep Academy.
