Eagles lose third straight game
4/12/2012

The Eagles dropped their third game in a row in a 6-7 loss to Thacher.  This was the sixth time this season that an Eagles' game has been decided by a single goal.  With the loss, the Eagles record becomes 5-6 for the season.

This game followed a very familiar pattern for the Eagles.  Oak Park scored the first three goals and moved into a 5-2 lead at halftime.  The Eagles scored the first goal of the second half to pull ahead 6-2.  However, the momentum then swung over to Thacher and the Eagles did not score again.  Thacher fought to within one goal and a score of 6-5 at the end of the third quarter.  An Eagle penalty at the end of the third quarter gave Thacher a man up situation and the ball heading into the final period.   Thacher's extra man offense capitalized less than 30 seconds into the fourth quarter to tie the score 6-6.  The remainder of the game went back and forth and overtime looked like a distinct possibility.  However, Thacher scored with 1:06 left and won the game 6-7.

Zack Shorts scored 2 goals with 1 assist.  Ryan Helfand had 1 goal and 2 assists.  Griffin Hughes had 1 goal and 1 assist.  Alex Wenker and Hunter Jamison each scored a goal.

The JV team will play the Thacher JV squad on Monday in Oak Park.  The Varsity and JV teams are back  on the OPHS field next Wednesday against Thousand Oaks.
