BVHS Varsity vs. BV Northwest in Playoff Game
Conditions were great for high school playoff soccer. Both teams came out strong and were not dominating each other. 14 minutes into the first half the Huskies from BVNW earned a corner kick from the left side and were able to convert the corner to a goal.. The Tigers had several chances before the half but were unable to find the back of the net. The Huskies scored what would prove to be the winning goal with 10 minutes left in the first half. The Tigers began the second half with renewed energy and an attack with several opportunities to score, but once again turned away by the Huskies defense. The Huskies scored two more before the Tigers managed to score on a free kick by Evan Palmer from 25 yards out on the right side. Defensively Rachel Burton, Brooke Lickteig, and Sarah Todd led the team with seven tackles each, Rianin Bowser led the team in steals with three. The Tigers ended the season with a 9-7-1 record. The Tigers will graduate two players Rachel Burton and Emily Campbell. Only losing two players leaves the future outlook promising for the Tigers next year.
