The Eagle varsity team lost to the Warriors, who remain undefeated in the 101 Conference play, at Westlake High School last night by the score ot 5-8.
The Eagles opened the scoring on Kyle Kellenberger's first goal of the season. Westlake scored the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead. Tyler Chandler scored twice in the 2nd quarter to tie the score 3-3 at halftime. The Warriors scored first in the 3rd quarter, but Ryan Helfand tallied to even the score at 4-4. With seconds left in the 3rd quarter, Westlake scored to go ahead after being awarded possession on a questionable call and took the lead for good. Teddy Fauver scored for the Eagles in the 4th quarter, but the Warriors responded with three goals of their own. Hunter Jamison and Alex Wenker each had an assist.
In the JV game, Westlake scored first in the opening quarter, but the Eagles quickly responded to tie it up. In the second quarter, the Eagles scored three times while the Warriors only scored once. So the Eagles led 4-2 at halftime. Both teams scored once in the 3rd quarter leaving the Eagles with a 5-3 edge heading into the final quarter. The Eagles got another goal, but the Warriors continued to battle back and scored twice to close within 1 goal. However, the clock ran out on their comeback attempt, and the Eagles won by the final score of 6-5.
The Eagles play their final regular season game in Newbury Park on Thursday, May 10th.
