Calvary Chapel Eagles Varsity Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat Santa Ana

 

Calvary Chapel stole the lead late and defeated Santa Ana 6-3 on Tuesday. The game was tied at two with the Eagles batting in the bottom of the fifth when Sam Guardardo singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

 

After Santa Ana scored one run in the top of the third, Calvary Chapel Eagles Varsity answered with one of their own. Calvary Chapel then answered when Charlie Pierce lined out, driving in a run.

 

Guardardo was the winning pitcher for Calvary Chapel Eagles Varsity. He went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out two. Jonathan Brown threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

 

#32 took the loss for Santa Ana. He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out six.

 

The Eagles racked up 12 hits on the day. Chris Brown, Chris Berry, and Jonathan Brown each managed multiple hits for Calvary Chapel Eagles Varsity. Brown led Calvary Chapel Eagles Varsity with three hits in three at bats.

 

#25 went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Santa Ana in hits.
