Region X Week 5
The Dolphins traveled to Franklin, Virginia to take play against Paul D Camp.(12-7) The weekend was not the best for the Fins as they would drop 2 of 3.
Game 1- The Fins would score first in the top of the 1st by a sacrifice fly by Will Barbour that would score Chase Hudson who singled to get the game started. The lead would be short lived as the Hurricanes scored 3 in the bottom of the 3rd then score another run in bottom of the 4th. The Fins would rally in the 4th. Kobie Mackinnon would get the rally started with a single then a double by Chase Sykes which put runner on 2nd and third with Hunter Ashburn up he would deliver with a single and a groundout by Michael Phillips to score Chase Sykes. This cut the deficit to 1. A big 7th inning for the Fins would help them take the lead to 9-4. But then errors started being a problem for the Fins in the bottom of the inning when the Hurricanes would fight back and get within 1. In the 8th errors were still a problem for the Fins and the Hurricanes would score 2 and take the lead 10-9. The Fins tried to fight back in the 9th but could not overcome the errors in the late part of the game. The Fins would lose 9-10. Chase Hudson would lead the Fins with 4 hits and scoring once. Will Barbour and Hunter Ashburn both tallied 4 RBI.
Game 2- This game was a pitching duel early as Josh Jarman got the nod for the Fins. The Hurricanes would get the scoring starting in the bottom of the 4th inning as they would score 3. The Fins would respond scoring 3 of their own in the top of the 6th. The Hurricanes would respond by scoring 2 more in the bottom of the inning take make it 5-3. The Fins couldn’t respond and would end up losing 5-3. Five Dolphns would tally 1 hit in the contest.
Game 3- The Fins made sure to get started early and stay ahead. They would score in every inning but the 7th and the 9th. In addition, Easton Jones had himself a day with 4 hits and 5 RBI’S and to top it all off, he had a 3 run homer. Hunter Stevens also had a great game pitching for the Fins. He went 4 and 2/3rd while striking out 7 and only allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. Alec Dumas also had a 4 hit game driving in 1 run. The Fins won 12-7 snapping a 4 game skid.
What’s Next:
The Fins travel to USC Salkehatchie for a double header on Wednesday. The Fins return to Founders field this weekend as they will play Fayetteville Tech in a three game series.
