North Tahoe Lakers Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 15-8 loss to West Wendover on Saturday. West Wendover scored on a double by Thomas Rojas in the first inning, a single by Elias Rojas in the first inning, and a home run by Luis Esparza in the second inning.
North Tahoe Lakers Varsity collected nine hits and West Wendover had 12 in the high-scoring affair.
In the first inning, West Wendover got their offense started when Rojas doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
West Wendover scored five runs in the seventh inning. West Wendover's big inning was driven by singles by Cristian Rodriguez and Rojas, a sac fly by Illai Reyes, by Rojas, and an error on a ball put in play by Keegan Neilson.
Rodriguez got the win for West Wendover. He went five innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out four. Esparza and Rojas entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Koby Mattson took the loss for North Tahoe Lakers Varsity. He surrendered nine runs on five hits over four innings, striking out six.

Mattson and Sandoval each managed three hits to lead North Tahoe Lakers Varsity. North Tahoe Lakers Varsity tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Luke Giacobazzi led the way with two.
West Wendover tallied 12 hits in the game. Rojas, Esparza, and Rodriguez each had multiple hits for West Wendover. Rojas led West Wendover with four hits in four at bats.
